Pizza Night with the Ooni

Wood oven pizza has always been one of my favourites. There’s just something about the crust—it comes out crispy on the outside, still a bit chewy inside, with those slightly charred edges that give it that smoky flavour. It’s hard to get the same result in a regular oven. The heat and the flames just do something different to the dough. Whether you keep it simple with a classic margherita or try different toppings, it always turns out good.

Our Ooni Has Arrived

I’m really excited for summer gatherings now that we finally have an outdoor pizza oven. We’ve been eyeing the Ooni pizza oven for a while and decided to just go for it—and honestly, no regrets. It’s such a fun thing to have in the backyard. It actually showed up around the same time as my Thermomix cutter, so I’ve been excited to use both. The cutter’s been great for getting toppings ready and throwing together quick salads, which makes pizza nights even easier.

Now we just need the weather to cooperate… summer pizza nights are definitely happening.

Making pizza has actually become one of those easy, go-to things now. As I said, there’s jsut something about that wood-fired flavour—the light smokiness and the way the dough cooks—that just makes it so good.

There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier each time. We’re already looking forward to having people over and doing more pizza nights. You can see the difference too—they’re starting to look better and come together more easily. I still get surprised at how they turn out. They really do look like something you’d get at a restaurant, but we’re just making them in the backyard. And the kids love it too—they’re always in the middle of it, helping with toppings and watching the pizzas cook. It’s kind of turned into a whole thing.

What Else Can You Cook in the Ooni?

You can cook more than just pizza in the Ooni oven and using the cast iron pans is an excellent method to prepare a wide range of dishes in the Ooni like bread, meat, veggies, s’mores and much more!

Slicing and Dicing Made Effortless: Thermomix’s Latest Cutter!

Preparation was a breeze. In the morning, I was able to whip up multiple batches of dough with the Thermomix. I love how I can simply toss in all the ingredients and let it handle the mixing and kneading. Unless you’re a fan of kneading dough by hand, using the Thermomix for dough preparation is a swift and hassle-free experience.

I was really excited to try out the new Thermomix cutter for salads and pizza toppings, and it did not disappoint. It chopped everything up in just a few minutes, which made prep so much easier.

It’s quickly become one of those tools I keep reaching for. It’s precise, efficient, and takes a lot of the work out of slicing, grating, and chopping. Everything comes out pretty even too, which just makes things look and cook better.

I’ve used it for veggies, some meats, even herbs, and it handles it all really well. It’s only been a few days, but I already love it. It’s also simple to use, so the kids can help out without it feeling stressful—which makes it even better.

Our pizza nights lately have been so good, and everyone’s been loving the wood-fired pizzas. We even started making Nutella pizzas at the end… which are very good, even if my waistline might disagree a little. I know a lot of people are enjoying their Ooni pizza oven right now, and I get why. We’re really glad we finally got one—it’s been such a fun addition.

Definitely no regrets on this one.
