Every once in a while, you buy something for your kitchen that ends up becoming one of those things you reach for almost every day. For us, that’s been the Our Place Titanium Always Pan Pro.
We’ve had ours for years now, and we use it for just about everything, from cooking eggs and vegetables to searing meat and making everyday family meals. It gets a lot of use and love, and what I appreciate most is that it’s continued to hold up really well.
But what makes this pan different is actually the technology behind it.
What’s Different About the Technology?
Most traditional nonstick pans rely on a coating to help prevent food from sticking. The Titanium Always Pan Pro takes a different approach with something called NoCo® technology.
Instead of applying a conventional nonstick coating, the pan uses a specially engineered texture on its titanium cooking surface to help food release. Interestingly, the technology takes inspiration from something called the Lotus Effect. If you’ve ever noticed how water droplets bead up and roll off a lotus leaf instead of spreading across it, that’s because of its microscopic surface structure. Our Place uses a similar concept to create a textured cooking surface designed to help reduce food sticking.
Of course, it doesn’t mean food will never stick. Cooking temperature, proper preheating and using a little cooking oil still matters, but the idea of creating a cooking surface without relying on a traditional nonstick coating is what makes this technology so interesting.
Three Layers Working Together
Another feature I find interesting is its three-layer construction. The pan combines stainless steel on the outside, an aluminum core and a titanium cooking surface.
Each material has a different job:
- Stainless steel: Provides a durable exterior.
- Aluminum: Helps distribute heat throughout the pan.
- Titanium: Provides the durable, textured cooking surface.
It’s essentially three materials working together to give you the benefits of different metals in one pan. The cooking surface is also made without a traditional PFAS-based nonstick coating, including PTFE (commonly associated with Teflon). For those of us who are becoming more mindful of the materials used in everyday kitchen products, this is another feature worth considering.
But Does It Actually Hold Up?
This is probably the part that matters most to me.
We’ve had ours for years now, use it regularly, and it’s still one of our favourite pans. It has become one of those everyday kitchen pieces that we keep reaching for. Honestly, that’s the real test. It’s one thing to look at the technology and read about all the claims, but it’s another to use something consistently over several years and see how it performs.
Is It Worth the Price?
I’m not going to pretend it’s cheap. It’s definitely an investment.
Here’s how I look at it. Over the years, we’ve bought plenty of less expensive nonstick pans. They all seemed promising at first, with similar claims about easy food release and durability. But after regular use, the nonstick layers would start wearing down, peeling or coming off. Before long, we’d be shopping for another pan and spending money all over again, and that’s when I started thinking about the actual cost of buying cheaper products repeatedly.
Sometimes we focus so much on the initial price that we forget to consider how long something will last. A cheaper pan might save you money today, but if you’re constantly replacing it, those purchases start adding up.
With our Titanium Always Pan Pro, we’ve had it for years, use it for almost everything, and it’s still holding up really well. When I think about how much we’ve spent replacing other pans, investing in something that has lasted makes much more sense. It’s not necessarily about buying the most expensive option. It’s about finding something that performs well and continues to do so over time.
We’ve enjoyed ours enough that I just bought the Our Place Titanium Perfect Pot Pro to add to our kitchen! There was a good sale. I guess that’s probably the best endorsement I can give it. When you’ve used something for years and are happy enough with it to consider buying another piece from the same collection, it says quite a bit.
Sometimes, spending a little more upfront can save you money in the long run, and this is one kitchen purchase I’m glad we made.
